A Name Of Your Own

hoshinglai.
I've been thinking about it for the past week... I'm more and more tempted to get another tattoo, 7 years after my 2nd! One that would go on my back, below my neck right between my blades. About 2" by 2" in size...

Either the Chinese character of 'Buddha', or my name, also in Chinese of course... I had an ink stamp made of my Chinese name [Wayne would know what I'm talking about! heh!] while I was in Beijing, and all three characters fit nicely in a square... very nicely carved. So anyway, I've talked to Alec about it and this might be my X'mas present this year. Yey!

Call me silly, but while I was thinking about the idea of inking my name on my skin, it sorta saddened me. I was thinking: The process seems so... permanent, sorta... like branding of an animal... That I'm only the person I'm named, since birth, and that I can't be any one/thing else, but me... I'm unique, yet limited.

To me, that's a very strange thought and I know it's just all in my head. Anyway, thanks for listening... and yet I've always asked myself: Are you only who you think you are?
